Positive Speed Control
PSC - Positive Speed Control can convert your reliable differential drive system into a sectional electric drive system without losing the advantages of the differentials. PSC is a truly affordable system conversion without the expense of costly downtime. Safety concerns over differential overspeed are eliminated by the inclusion of an anti-rotation device (backstop).
• Uses almost 50% of horsepower required for a sectional electric drive • Removes the weakest item (PIV) from the differential drive system • Removes a power absorber (PIV) from the system while adding horsepower to the system • Retains section to section speed control • Expands draw range by +/-66% • Expands grade range reducing roll change outs • Eliminates much wasted product when changing grades • Requires no foundation changes • Individual sections can be done during normal outages • Allows for progressive draw slack take-up and tension control • PLC and DCS drive controls can be incorporated • Existing slack take-up controls can be retained • Eliminates the concern of the differential overspeeding with the inclusion of a backstop.
